A short,
Day 1
Arrival at Edinburgh* or Glasgow Airport and transfer
to car depot to pick up self-drive car. Then drive via
Stirling, if coming from Edinburgh, Loch Lomond if
coming from Glasgow, further to Loch Awe to Oban.
Overnight near Oban.
*Allow at least 3 hours driving time from Edinburgh to
Oban.
Day 2
Discover the Mull of Kintyre, the wonderful garden on
the Island of Gigha, or the many Celtic resting places
of the ancient Dalriada kingdom and the Neolithic and
Bronze Age stone circles of Kilmartin Glen. Overnight
as Day 1
Day 3
Full day excursion to the Isle of Mull, the largest
island of the southern Hebrides including a visit
to the Island of Iona, the holy island where St.
Columba introduced Christianity to Scotland in
563 and where many ruins and Celtic crosses can
be seen. Early evening return to the mainland.
Overnight as Day 1 & 2.
Day 4
Scenic drive along the West Coast to Loch Ness
and along Glen Shiel to Kyle of Lochalsh. Drive
over the newly built Skye Toll Bridge to the
beautiful Isle of Skye. Continue to Portree and
visit the picturesque harbour. Overnight on the Isle of
Skye.
Day 5
Full day on Skye with visits to Duntulm & Dunvegan
Castle. Discover varied wildlife of the ‘Misty Island’
and enjoy the peace of remote beaches. Overnight as
Day 4.
Day 6
Leave Skye this morning, continue along the remote
roads through Glencarron to Gairloch with its white
beach and turquoise waters. Pay a visit to Gairloch’s
Heritage Museum, displaying all aspects of life in a
typical West Highland parish from the Stone Ages to
the present day. Later on continue to Poolewe, to see
the tropical gardens of Inverewe and from here
head south towards Inverness area for overnight.
Day 7
Heading south this morning into the lush rolling
hills of Perthshire, passing the outdoor centres of
Aviemore and also Blair Castle. Optional, travel
south east through Speyside, visiting the local
whisky distilleries. Overnight in Perthshire.
Day 8
Return to Edinburgh or Glasgow Airport for
departure.

Mixed Tourist is based on 3 star B&B, guesthouses and 2 star hotels, all with private facilities
Middle Class Hotel is based on 3 star hotels the whole tour, all with private facilities.
First Class Hotel is based on 4 star hotels for the whole tour, all with private facilities.
