Other outdoor teambuilding activities

Outdoor exercises are like adventures for adults, the itching feeling of being challenged and getting the opportunity of using oneself, others, the team in new or well-known ways in a problem-solving teamwork.

We offer 1 – 8 hours outdoor team building programs, all year around. These programs are adapted to the needs of each group and may take place in Reykjavik , its neighbourhood or in the countryside. A theme may be created around each program, i.e. the theme of Vikings, elves, colours, ideas.

The team building may vary from being relatively easy but still challenging cooperation within the group with the purpose of getting to know each other, break barriers, produce smiles and laughter, to more advanced team work, where a team is defined as being a small number of people (max. 12 persons), possessing complementary skills, comitted to a common purpose, performance, goals and approach to work, for which they hold each other responsible. A team produces results which equals more than the sum of its members, 1+1=3!

Hints and Hunting in Laugardalur
An example of an afternoon program in Laugardalur valley with botanic garden, family and domestic park: Each group is led through the activities with hints from which they must conclude where they must go and there they will find out what task they must complete.

Other activities are involved and during they day the group may enjoy lunch at the family park or in Restaurant Flora in the botanic garden. Barbeque, music group and other entertaining items from the activity or accessory list are available.

Treasure hunting. Walking and biking
All guests will get a map of an island, a mountain, an area or a village. After studying the map they have to find their way, by foot and on bikes - in small groups or individually, from one landmark to the other. Several tasks and games have to be carried out en route. This game can take from about one hour up to a whole day, all according to client's wishes. The search ends with either lunch or dinner at a selected spot/restaurant where awards will be handed out to the winners of the game.

Team building: The Quest for the Viking Gold
Theme from an ancient Saga when the extremely rich Egill Skallagrímsson, one of the best known characters in the Icelandic history, threatens to throw two full coffers of gold to the Parliamentary assembly just for the joy of seeing the members fight and loose their dignity.

The teams will participate in the treasure hunt, collect the gold and therefore safe Iceland and the Parliament assembly from total disorder. For the treasure hunt we will use for example the following: Compass, GPS orientation system, high frequency marker (used in catastrophe areas), do cliff-hanging, canoeing, mountain biking, walking. They will of course learn how to use all equipment (compass and GPS) before they start.

A brief version of the saga of Egill will be told the before starting the treasure hunt. All explanations will be given in writing for each team. All tasks will be timed and scored.

Some tasks will be done individually, some only per team. After having finished all tasks, the winning team collects the "pieces" of the puzzle from the other teams and has to make a map of the ground to locate the spot where Egill buried the gold.

The winning team's award will be hidden in that place. Awards can be for example the Icelandic beer “Egils Gull” which means Egil's Gold.
